Regarding College Essays. . . [Sep. 30th, 2003|11:08 pm]
The following Actual Quotation makes evident how stressful the college process is by reducing full grown, well educated, adults to neurotic puddles and questions like:
"If one is equally adept at writing. . . SHORT sentences. . . as LONG sentences. . .you, as a college admissions officer, would you prefer to read an essay with SHORT sentences. . .or LONG sentences. . .?"

Allusions to the Unbearable Lightness of Being [Sep. 29th, 2003|09:28 pm]
Courtesy of 1) Milan Kundera -----> 2) Connor Oberst -------> 3) Sadaf Jaffer

tereza and tomas/bright eyes
lets sail away past the noise of the bay.lets sail away past the birth and death of the day.lets sail away to where the blues and greens swirl into gray.lets sail away.take only what you need my love and leave the rest behind.dont be afraid of where well go my love.i promise you will be fine.now you are the only one thats mine.lets sail away past the reflections of the light.lets sail away floating weightless through the night.LETS SAIL AWAY LIKE A PHOTGRAPH, FADING TO ALL WHITE.its finally all right.forget all the mistakes my love.they wont be made again.leave the photos in the drawer my love.we no longer need them.we both know where weve been.lets sail away disappearing in a mist.LETS SAIL AWAY WITH A WHISPER AND A KISS. OR VANISH FROM THE ROAD SOMEWHERE LIKE TEREZA AND TOMAS. SUSPENDED IN THIS BLISS.

D'accords Somone I agree with [Sep. 28th, 2003|07:06 pm]
I feel inarticulate. I keep grasping at words and missing. . .
"i feel the same way. everytime i go for a word its gone but i can remember having once used it. strange what school does to a person" -liz

"i guess but at least before i had a tangible problem. now i'm just in love with a ghost" -liz

Lyrics, Gone Postal [Sep. 26th, 2003|12:19 am]
I was waiting for a cross-town train in the
london underground when it struck me
that I've been waiting since birth to find a
love that would look and sound like a movie
so I changed my plans I rented a camera and
a van and then I called you
"I need you to pretend that we are in love
again." and you agreed to

I want so badly to believe that "there is truth,
that love is real"
and I want life in every word to the extent
that it's absurd

I greased the lens and framed the shot using
a friend as my stand-in
the script it called for rain but it was clear
that day so we faked it
the marker snapped and I yelled "quiet on
the set" and then called "action!"
and I kissed you in a style clark gable would
have admired (i thought it classic)

I want so badly to believe that "there is truth,
that love is real"
and I want life in every word to the extent
that it's absurd
i know you're wise beyond your years, but
do you ever get the feeling
that your perfect verse is just a lie
you tell yourself to help you get by

-Clark Gable, Postal Service

last week I had the strangest dream where
everything was exactly how it seemed
don't wake me I plan on sleeping in

-Sleeping In, Postal Service

i'll write you a song and it won't be hard to sing
it will be a natural anthem, familiar it may seem
it will rally all the workers on strike for better pay
and its chorus will resound and boost morale thoughout the day

i'll write you a song and i hope that you won't mind
because all the names and places i have taken from real life
so please don't get upset at this portrait that i paint
it may be a little biased, but at least i spelt your name right...

-A Natural Anthem, Postal Service (not to be confused with Phantom Planet's Anthem, which is track 5 on that CD whereas this is track 9)

I woke up today a song was swimming in my head
And I hummed it to myself as I got out of bed
And on the way to take a shower it all just dawned on me
That a song like this just might go down in history
I quickly ran back to get my guitar
A pen and some paper

'Cause this whole world needs an Anthem
And I'm trying to put the words where they belong
Yeah this whole world needs an Anthem
And I'm hoping everyone will sing along

Well I quickly got to work and put the song in gear
And my neighbor rang the doorbell said it caught his ear
I was playing it so loud the whole neighborhood could hear
And at night from every household it became quite clear
Everyone was singing along
The same notes the same song
Or maybe I heard it wrong

'Cause this whole world needs an Anthem
And I'm trying to put the words where they belong
Yeah this whole world needs an Anthem
And I'm hoping everyone will sing along.

-Phantom Planet's: Anthem

squint your eyes and look closer
I'm not between you and your ambition
I am a poster girl with no poster
I am thirty-two flavors and then some
And I'm beyond your peripheral vision
So you might want to turn your head
Cause someday you might find you are starving
and eating all of the words you said

-Ani DiFranco its an Empowerment Anthem

Limanese: (regarding the marvelous mumbling Maddog)
i took a 30 minute nap and ended up sleep 1:30 hours
and that was because of history actually
if i hadn't tried to read world right after waking up after 30 minutes i would have been fine im sure

Me: and its like hmmm, senior year is hard.
Me: and i thought itw as supposed to be easy
Me: and i haven't started apps.
J-ZZ: tell me who said it was easy and we can both go beat them up
